Khan-ul-Azam Ulugh Khan-i-Jahan, a saint and a great man of Islam, built twenty heritage listed mosques including the historical Shaitgumbad mosque before approximately 1459 AD, i.e. during the Sultanate period. In 1985, UNESCO declared Bagerhat as a city of historical mosques considering the historical importance of the mosques built in the Islamic architectural style during the Khan Jahan period. It is listed as the 321st World Heritage Site. Mosques: Historic Shaitgumbad Mosque, Bibibegni Mosque, Chunakhola Mosque, Nine-domed Mosque, Jindapirer Mosque, Ranbijaipur Mosque, Reza Khoda Mosque, Singair Mosque and Single-domed Mosque adjacent to the shrine.
